This position is in the Supported Employment division of Didlake’s Rehabilitation Services Department.  The Employment Specialist III (ESIII) generates referrals from state Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and local Community Services Board Case Managers situated throughout Virginia; develops job opportunities at commercial and governmental sites located across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. areas; and, provides “time limited” employment services for the purpose of securing stable employment for people with severe disabilities.
  1. Conducts situational assessment, Job placement and training, and follow along support to individuals with severe disabilities.
  2. Conducts intake of applicants.
  3. This position may on occasion write Individualized Service Plans (ISP) in accordance with Didlake policies and procedures and tracks individual progress.
  4. Provides travel training and appropriate assistance to maximize the safety and mobility of all consumers.
  5. Conducts job orientation on-site at commercial or government work sites.
  6. Provides rehabilitation counseling to supported employees.
  7. Provides crisis intervention.
  8. Implements the use of assistive technologies and identifies environmental modifications needed.
  9. Coordinates authorizations from funding agencies and secures approval before service implementation.
  10. Routinely maintains contact with rehabilitative counselors and mental health referral sources to request additional, or change status of the case.
  11. Develops and implements strategies for training, instruction, and supervision of consumer.
  12. Collect, writes, and maintains data and appropriate documentation in accordance with CARF accreditation standards, rules and regulations promulgated by the Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS), the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services (BHDS), Didlake Policies and Procedures, and Statements of Work.
  13. Provides information and resources to families, guardians and/or natural supports, as appropriate.
  14. Coordinates the use of assistive technology and environmental modifications.
  15. Coordinates transportation resources, as necessary.
  16. Develops and maintains a network of resources in the “Vocational Rehabilitation” community.
  17. May serve as Didlake’s representative at professional association forums.
  18. Markets Supported Employment Program to Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors and local Community Services Board Case Managers to generate referrals.
  19. Conducts market analyses to identify employment options for consumers of services.
  20. Makes presentation to prospective employers and companies.
  21. Provides disability education and develops natural support with coworkers/supervisors of supported employee.
  22. Identifies job opportunities with potential employers in commercial and governmental industries (Job Development).
  23. Participates in job fairs and organizes recruitment campaign s on behalf of populations served.
  24. Arranges meetings with hiring authorities of businesses to promote job prospects.
  25. Participates in materials development for public relations and marketing efforts.
  26. Conducts employer satisfaction surveys with employer
  27. Ensures all Didlake consumer database/human resource documentation is completed for each consumer of service.
  28. Arranges job interviews for applicants.
  30. BA/BS degree in a related field  and two (2) years of direct care experience; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of paid direct service to people with disabilities. Ability to obtain and maintain Job Coach Certification required within six (6) months of hire.  QMRP designation required. EOE m/f/v/d
